How many of you...

Stayed awake that first night watching to make sure they were breathing?

I see where the sleep deprevation comes in.

She had a difficult time getting to sleep. Then we swadled her. BINGO. Out like a light.

Now, I'm wastching her breathe...

It took me 4 1/2 months to stop checking on him every hour. Now I check every two or three. I'm not sure it ever stops.

She's absolutely beautiful. Enjoy every second.

It took about 4 weeks with Julian and about 2 weeks with Evelyn. What's amazing is that you will develop a "new" sense of hearing. You'll be able to sleep, but will awaken instantly to your baby but not other sounds.

Do try to get some sleep, though. She'll be fine. It's totally normal for her to either be absolutely silent or to snort like a piglet while she's sleeping.

all the time.. i watched ethan all the time.. he was in a bassinet next to our bed.. i would put my hand on his chest to make sure it would go up and down.. then i would lay back down.. then back up again like 20 min later. BUT its all worth it. again, so happy for you.

My oldest is 9 and I still sneak in his room and watch him breath. Brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.

Isn't it amazing???

Like the previous poster, I still check on my son sometimes and he is almost 8 years old. You are parents now...you never stop watching and worrying! And my 4 month old daughter is a swaddler too!

I'm 35 and I think my mom MIGHT still check on me when I'm at her house.

You've waited a long time for these sleepless nights...I'm SO excited for you!

Isn't it the best watching them sleep?

Even though Sasha was 3 when we got her, we got a video monitor. She's been home now 4 months and we still watch her and keep it on all night so we can hear!

When Evan came home and made his baby noises I thought he was fussing-all night. I hung on his bassinet. The second night was better. I still checking on the boys 3 or 4 times a night. I also have to agree with a previous poster that my mom probably still checks on me at her house unlike the creepy book "I'll love you forever."

Shelli,

My son's are now 17 and 15, and I still lay awake some nights listening for their snores, and on occassion when I remember holding them close as babies, I sneak into their rooms, feel for their breath on my face and smooth the hair on their heads. It does not end, and we can be blessed for this. Ohhh, and still I tuck them into bed at night, even when I know they will be awake hours beyond me. Though at times, they tuck us in!

If you do not have the book "Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch, You should get it. I still have my copy from 17 years ago.

Just checked Helen this morning and she's a few feet from our bed! I check whenever I think about it because it ALWAYS eases my mind. It's hard to believe you get so wrapped so fast, though, huh? Yea for that, how wonderful!

Yes. And good going with the swaddling. I haven't tried getting Sanna to sleep without it, yet, unless she's in my arms.

My DD loved to be swaddled too. It was her favorite way to sleep. She used to always wiggle one leg out of the bottom though. It was too cute.

GOD she's CUTE! little Ray likes to be swaddled on the fussy nights as well. He definitly sleeps longer swaddled. I sleep in the nursery with him and it's been a month...I still listen for him and lay awake at night listening for breath sounds! Mazel Tov!! I'm so SO HAPPY for you both!
